Program Coordinator
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in education (general or special), social or behavioral science, or other relted or acceptable field preferred (unless approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Director
- Experience equivalent to two (2) years of full-time professional mental health/ developmental disability program work
- Qualifying full-time professional mental health/ developmental disability program or staff experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year for year basis, to a maximum of two (2) years
- Possession of a valid Tennessee driver’s license
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of designing and implementing programs for intellectual and developmentally disabled adults
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and training necessary for staff who work with intellectual and developmentally disabled adults
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of management
- Ability to perform professional program coordination and supervisory duties
- Ability to design, supervise, and implement programs for persons supported
- Ability to assign, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and their work
- Ability to communicate clearly and precisely in verbal and written form
- Knowledge of office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to be creative and flexible in his/her job position
- Knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations as set forth by the agency and DIDDS
- Knowledge and skills necessary for conflict management
Essential Duties
- Assume the responsibilities of the Executive Director in his/her absence
- Supervise and enforce policies, programs, and operational procedures
- Supervise Direct Support Staff (DSP) under his/her direction and submit annual evaluations when requested
- Develop and assign daily cleaning and basic housekeeping assignments to DSPs under his/her supervision
- Be responsible for administration and coordination of continuing education and training for Direct Support Professionals
- Submit required reports, (Riit, LON, PSD, etc.), to appropriate state agency and/or ISC in a timely manner
- Monitor running records and submit monthly review reports for Day Center persons supported
- Develop a monthly activity schedule for Day Center persons supported
- Develop daily activities and pre-vocational training in accordance with each person supported ISP
- Be proactive in the activities of the Day Center to enhance community involvement of the persons supported
- Assist in developing, implementing, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of an Individual Support Plan (ISP) and/or Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) for each person supported by the agency
- Maintain a positive, professional relationship with persons supported and guardians
- Provide a safe work environment for all persons supported and staff
- Assist the Executive Director in meeting the quality assurance standards set forth by the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
- Open/close building as needed
- Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow staff members
- Implement conflict management when necessary
- Assist the Executive Director with agency employees’ morale and cohesion
- Discharge all other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director or the Board of Directors
